Celebrate Peoria: Dia de los Muertos

Join us at Peoria PlayHouse Children’s Museum for Celebrate Peoria event Día de los Muertos as we honor our local Mexican American community and learn about the holiday! Activities are in collaboration with Bradley University Association of Latin American Students and community members.

Día de los Muertos or “Day of the Dead” is a regional Mexican holiday with Aztec roots that is held in honor of friends and family who have passed away. Day of the Dead is an opportunity to remember death as a part of life. It is traditionally celebrated November 1st and 2nd and now coincides with the Catholic holiday All Saints Day.

Activities include:

– Stoytime: Día De Los Muertos by Roseanne Thong
– Make prints like Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada
– Take a look at the ofrenda, a special altar for Día de los Muertos
– Make papel picado banners and more!

Activities are free with museum admission or membership.
