About The PlayHouse

The Peoria PlayHouse children’s museum will be a hands-on, interactive museum where children and families can dream, explore, and learn through play. The project is a partnership between the Junior League of Peoria, the Peoria Zoological Society, and the Peoria Park District. A capital campaign is currently underway to make the PlayHouse a reality. You can support the PlayHouse project making a donation here.

The PlayHouse will prepare every young child to learn by offering the hands-on experiences essential for healthy brain development. It will feature interactive exhibits and programs that strengthen families and complement formal education, ensuring that all children participate and learn. These positive learning experiences instill a lifelong love of learning and encourage an appreciation of cultural institutions in children as they mature.

Community Impact

The Peoria PlayHouse will benefit local economic development efforts by attracting families and young professionals to Central Illinois. In tandem with the zoo, the Peoria PlayHouse will become a full-day, regional destination stop for families and school groups, creating additional tourism revenue, and will create jobs during and after construction.
