There are so many fun animals in the farmyard. Cows and sheep, pigs and goats, chickens and ducks, and so much more. Can you make the sound of your favorite animal in the barn?

An additional suggested donation of $5 per family helps the museum to continue to offer this program.

This program is made possible by PNC and the Community Foundation of Central Illinois and is offered with the support of the Peoria Public Library.

Parent’s Group: Art
Feb 11 @ 9:30 am – 10:30 am
Parent's Group: Art

Our newest PlayHouse program is designed for the parents of babies age birth to 12 months. Enjoy coffee and conversation with fellow parents while your little one plays.

This week, we’ll explore ways for babies to make their first works of art. Experimenting with different materials not only activates all the senses, but creates an amazing opportunity for bonding, and produces something beautiful!

This program is made possible by the Junior League of Peoria.

Adult Maker Space Night
Feb 11 @ 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm

Adults, it’s your turn to play and make things!

How many ways can you get a marble from one place to another? How complicated can you make it? Try your hand at making a Rube Goldberg-inspired contraption, then race your marble through it and attempt to hit various targets. Score the most points and receive the coveted PlayHouse Trophy!

We will serve a full dinner catered by culinary students from Woodruff High School, and an assortment of exciting beers left from our HopScotch event.

Adult Maker Space Evening
Thursday, February 11, 6:30-8:30 pm
$25 per person; cost includes food, wine and beer

Tickets MUST be purchased in advance (how else will we know how much food to get?)

Welcome to the Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum!

Our Mission

The Peoria PlayHouse Children's Museum provides children with the tools and inspiration they need to be explorers and creators of the world. We do this in part through understanding, supporting, and promoting play in the fullest sense of the word, one that includes imagination and creativity.

Our history

Built by the Junior League of Peoria, in collaboration with Peoria Park District and Peoria Zoological Society, The Peoria PlayHouse is a hands-on, interactive children’s museum. It is located in the historic Glen Oak Park Pavilion building within Glen Oak Park, adjacent to Peoria Zoo and near Luthy Botanical Garden, providing a full-day destination for families in our region.

Our Core Values

We believe that a kid can be anything they want to be. They need only the opportunity and inspiration to imagine, practice, and become.

We believe that we are more effective when we collaborate with others. Collaboration with individuals and organizations throughout and beyond Peoria allows us to effectively support families and achieve shared goals.

We believe that the PlayHouse is for all children and families, regardless of income, abilities, or background.

PLAYHOUSE_CMYK PPD facilityWe believe that we are catalysts. A good museum experience sparks experiences and ideas that happen after and between visits. Who knows where a visit to the PlayHouse might lead?
